Summary

¿Estabas en el tren de las 8。04? ¿Viste algo sospechoso?

I hated every character and spent 90% of the book going ugghhhh Rachel stop

Reading this book made me sick 🤢

The Girl On The Train is an excellently written book。 The unreliable narrator kept catching me out, even though I was on the lookout for it。 Kept me guessing until the very end。I hadn’t read widely in the genre and I thought this would be a good place to start。 However it didn’t vibe with me—it was suspenseful, but it didn’t keep me hooked, it didn’t pull me in to the story。 I wasn’t attached to the characters, and it took me a long time to finish。 The problem was probably with me rather than th The Girl On The Train is an excellently written book。 The unreliable narrator kept catching me out, even though I was on the lookout for it。 Kept me guessing until the very end。I hadn’t read widely in the genre and I thought this would be a good place to start。 However it didn’t vibe with me—it was suspenseful, but it didn’t keep me hooked, it didn’t pull me in to the story。 I wasn’t attached to the characters, and it took me a long time to finish。 The problem was probably with me rather than the book。 I’m glad I read it though: it satisfied my curiosity about the hype。tl;dr good book but not for me! 。。。more

Suspenseful! Listened to this one and could not stop。 Main character is frustrating at times but she keeps you entertained。

The story makes me frustrated yet curious。 Idk, if it's just me but I don't like Rachel。 I like the story but I hate Rachel。 The plot and the climacs are good, but i think it's kinda slow-paced。Overall, it is worth to read The story makes me frustrated yet curious。 Idk, if it's just me but I don't like Rachel。 I like the story but I hate Rachel。 The plot and the climacs are good, but i think it's kinda slow-paced。Overall, it is worth to read 。。。more

Me gusto mucho el libro, el final fue muy inesperado, no puedes soltarlo por que quieres seguir leyendo y saber que pasa。

the buildup was dragged out SO much and the climax/ending felt rushed。 none of the characters are likeable, though that doesn’t affect how much I like a book; even so this book was really just mediocre for me。

Many hard to like characters, but a good book!!

Kelsey Scheper

I liked the plot in general, just the one part where the villain made the classic “here’s how I did it” speech made me cringe too hard to give it more than 4 stars。

Maria Burnett

Took me a lot longer to finish than I anticipated。 I got very bogged down by the main character through the middle and it wore me out。 Ending was worth it! Would still recommend!

I’m torn between 2 and 3 stars, so rounded up。 The story was interesting。 The characters, though largely unlikeable and unreliable narrators, were mostly interesting。 I felt as though I wanted to know what happened, but was able to predict both the smaller and larger reveals。 Which is kind of my problem with the book。 The story isn’t bad, just predictable, making the read less enjoyable。

Was half way through this book and suddenly experienced deja vu。 Took me some time to realize the thriller formula and writing is similar to Japanese writer, Kanae Minato, with her usual brilliant psycho thriller and unexpected twist。 Only with this book, it was easier to piece together the hints leading to the final twist。

I liked how the characters are a reflection of each other。 But as a thriller book, I was not thrilled enough to recommend it to a friend。 It was enjoyable at first, page turner but it gets repetitive in the middle that I just wanted to find out who's the suspect because I know I was being misled。 I liked how the characters are a reflection of each other。 But as a thriller book, I was not thrilled enough to recommend it to a friend。 It was enjoyable at first, page turner but it gets repetitive in the middle that I just wanted to find out who's the suspect because I know I was being misled。 。。。more

Yawn。 I heard so much about this book that I was expecting something at least interesting。Spoiler: it wasn't。 I had to push myself to keep going。 The characters were irritating and dull, I could tell who the murderer was from the get go, and the writing was lackluster。 The plot was all over the place。 Rachel has memory lapses and we are drip fed information that she conveniently remembers just in the nicmotherhood。We know shes an alcoholic because she drinks all the time and falls down a lot。 Ya Yawn。 I heard so much about this book that I was expecting something at least interesting。Spoiler: it wasn't。 I had to push myself to keep going。 The characters were irritating and dull, I could tell who the murderer was from the get go, and the writing was lackluster。 The plot was all over the place。 Rachel has memory lapses and we are drip fed information that she conveniently remembers just in the nicmotherhood。We know shes an alcoholic because she drinks all the time and falls down a lot。 Yay。What bothered me especially was that the female characters were just defined by their relationship to motherhood。 Rachel wanted children but it never happened so now she's a bitter obsessive alcoholic。 Anna has a daughter and is terrified of Rachel harming her。 Meghan's husband wants kids but she is reluctant。 I didn't really see any other characteristics of these women beyond the motherhood factor and it irritated me。 The two main male characters are violent with their partners, and Scott especially has weird mood swings。 It just didn't live up to the hype at all。 。。。more

I give this book only three stars because I was bored and frustrated until the last 100 pages when I finally became interesting

Loved the book and plot twists。 Have not seen the movie yet。

I felt like the mystery in this was set up very well。 Each suspect had plausible motives and I did not feel like the reveal at the end came out of left field。 Additionally, even though there were multiple first-person perspectives and jumps in time, I did not find the plot difficult to follow。 However, I found this book difficult to read because all of the characters were such bad people (even if some of them had become that way through forces beyond their control, I still don't feel that excuse I felt like the mystery in this was set up very well。 Each suspect had plausible motives and I did not feel like the reveal at the end came out of left field。 Additionally, even though there were multiple first-person perspectives and jumps in time, I did not find the plot difficult to follow。 However, I found this book difficult to read because all of the characters were such bad people (even if some of them had become that way through forces beyond their control, I still don't feel that excuses their actions)。 I am not a big fan of stories where I am constantly wanting to yell at the characters。 If you are fine with stories where everyone is frustratingly reprehensible, you might enjoy this book a lot more than I did。 。。。more

I read this book twice。 I like how it was written from a different characters' view point。 It kept me chasing the read to unveil the mystery。 I finished the book in 2 days on my first read。 Reread it a few years later and still enjoyed it。 I read this book twice。 I like how it was written from a different characters' view point。 It kept me chasing the read to unveil the mystery。 I finished the book in 2 days on my first read。 Reread it a few years later and still enjoyed it。 。。。more

I listened to this book on my commute each day and although I accidentally read a spoiler early on, I still enjoyed listening each day。 The story is told by three different characters, something that was a little confusing when I started listening to the book because I knew nothing about the story。 I found the story suspenseful and it kept my interest throughout。

I think this book was really well done。 Your typical seductive mystery novel; the sad ex wife, the mistress, the hot young couple with no kids。 All the archetypes are there。 One of those novels you can't put down。 The movie changed things though, for some reason they changed it to NYC from London。 I totally pictured them as your typical upper middle class Burberry wearing suburban London type of families。 And why did they change it from Blenheim road to Buckett? Buckett sounds trashier。Thank god I think this book was really well done。 Your typical seductive mystery novel; the sad ex wife, the mistress, the hot young couple with no kids。 All the archetypes are there。 One of those novels you can't put down。 The movie changed things though, for some reason they changed it to NYC from London。 I totally pictured them as your typical upper middle class Burberry wearing suburban London type of families。 And why did they change it from Blenheim road to Buckett? Someone just said "i hated every character and i wanted to run over every single one of them with a bus multiple times" and honestly i agree。 But i felt like that’s what made this book 3,5/4 stars worthy。The fact that i hated every character but i was still hooked and i couldn’t put the book down。 The plot twist was kinda predictable i didn’t have a 😮 moment at all but still it’s a very well-written story that i would recommend to anyone who wants a fast and light read。 Someone just said "i hated every character and i wanted to run over every single one of them with a bus multiple times" and honestly i agree。 But i felt like that’s what made this book 3,5/4 stars worthy。The fact that i hated every character but i was still hooked and i couldn’t put the book down。 The plot twist was kinda predictable i didn’t have a 😮 moment at all but still it’s a very well-written story that i would recommend to anyone who wants a fast and light read。 。。。more

A very fast paced book, keeps you on your toes the whole story and has an interesting ending。 It was a fun and very quick read, and I'd suggest it for anyone needing a quick fix for a thriller!
